Holi Colors

Holi is just around the corner and we can’t resist having fun with those joyful colors and obviously, you should not stop yourself from having fun with your friends and loved ones.

Here are the few homemade tips to follow before stepping out of the home for playing Holi:

HAIRS

Hair Care before playing Holi:

Massage your hairs with coconut oil/Olive oil or any oil of your choice and tie them up in a bun with a scarf so the colors will only affect the upper part of your hairs and scalp will be safe from the damage caused by harmful colors. Make sure to wash your hairs before applying oil on the Holi day. An oil massage will help to create a protective layer for your scalp and hairs as it stops the colors from getting absorbed in your scalp. Also, avoid hair bands/rubber bands as they may get stuck in your hairs and they may cause the hair loss.

After playing Holi, stay away from the hot hairstyling like blow drying, straightening or curling as it may damage your hairs more.

SKIN:

Skin Care before playing Holi:

Clean your skin and apply deep nourishing moisturizer or olive oil to your face and whole body especially those part which is open like hand and feet. This will prevent the dry colors from sticking to the skin and causing damage to your skin. Also, if you are planning to play in an open area where you will be in direct exposure of the sun then apply sunscreen.

Do not forget to apply oil/sunscreen/moisturizer behind your ears and Purlicue as the skin over there is already sensitive and dry.

In addition, to protect your face from low-grade colors you can also apply light makeup on your face like applying primer and/or foundation. This will act as a protective layer for your skin as the face skin is the sensitive part as compared to other parts of the body.

To protect your eyes, wear sunglasses.

Skin Care after playing Holi:

Before doing anything to get rid of colors, first, try to clean with the clean cloth gently. Dry colors will get off easily. Instead of washing your face with soap or face wash you can prefer something natural which will not only remove the color but also moisture your face. Apply moisturizer on your face and leave it for a few minutes [at least 10-20 minutes] and then wipe it off with a soft piece i.e., cotton or any soft piece of cloth. It will not only remove the colors but also nourish the skin of your face. Unnecessarily rubbing and scrubbing your face will damage your face skin to the worst.

For removing the color of your other part of the body you can take a shower with cold water. Make sure not to rub the skin to remove the colors.

After taking shower do not forget to apply the deep nourishing moisturizer to heal your skin. It may take a couple of days to completely remove the colors if you have played wet Holi so do not pressurize your skin too much with those chemically rich products. Prefer organic products for the same.

If you have dry skin you can apply Ubtan to get back that glowing and flawless skin.

For Nails, apply thick nail paint to protect it from chemical colors and apply Vaseline in the nail cuticles and the free edge of the nails.

It is advised to play with organic colors only and avoid playing with watercolors as they are hard to remove and it does more damage to your skin.
